Another Way to “Get the Glow”: Dry Skin Brushing!
The skin is the largest organ in the body, and is responsible for a quarter of the body’s daily detoxification. Dry skin brushing helps eliminate toxins that build up in your lymphatic system. A bonus is that skin brushing makes your skin look and feel more vibrant and elastic.
Other amazing benefits of dry skin brushing your body include an increase in circulation, boosting your immune system and eliminating fat deposits. It also unclogs pores, which in turn allows your oil glands to release more oil (think natural moisturizer).
Before showering, use a dry, natural bristle brush on dry skin. We prefer brushes manufactured by the Yerba Prima brand.
Tips for Dry Brushing Your Skin
Use long, gentle, sweeping strokes – always moving towards your heart. Start at the soles of your feet, moving to the top of your feet then up your calves, knees and upper legs. From your belly button, move up around your breasts and to the center of your chest. Brush up your back towards your shoulders and up your arms towards your shoulders. Brush down your neck toward your heart and shoulders. This is roughly the direction your lymphatic system flows in your body.
